Hackley’s educational program is built on the belief that it is possible to couple academic rigor with a nurturing and supportive atmosphere. We believe we can be more rigorous, in fact, because we are nurturing. Hackley sets high standards for students of all ages - both for the effort and discipline they apply to their work and for the character and investment of self they bring to everything they do. By tradition, we translate our motto Iuncti Iuvamus to say “United We Help One Another,” an ethos that permeates our culture. Students try hard, and they honor the accomplishments of their peers. They work together on athletic teams and support each other in the arts. Teachers approach students as individual learners, supporting them where they need help and challenging them to higher levels of accomplishment. The value of individual achievement is closely bound to the relationships forged between members of the community as we work together.

Hackley believes in developing well-rounded life-long learners, fosters creative and critical thinking, and emphasizes writing across the curriculum.
