Hudson Scholars Reunions Full of Energy, Joy and Community

On Saturday, Oct. 14, nearly 45 Hudson Scholars and almost 30 Upper School mentors came together for the first Hudson Scholars reunion of the school year. Mentors led a range of activities for Scholars, including trivia, arts and crafts, spooky story writing, puzzles and a mummy-creating activity. This mix provided the perfect blend of academic enrichment, intellectual stimulation and good old-fashioned fun! Everyone then gathered for a delicious meal and pumpkin carving, which allowed for some much-needed relaxing and bonding time between our mentors and Scholars.

The November reunion on Saturday, Nov. 18, centered around a fall and Thanksgiving theme. Scholars and mentors spent the afternoon engaged in a variety of activities, including clearing and preparing the Hackley trails, creating leaf presses in Ms. Coble’s ceramics classroom, baking mini apple pies in the Johnson Center kitchen, and writing thoughtful thank you notes to friends and family. There was a great sense of joy and community.

Mentors and Scholars came together again on Saturday, Dec. 16, to celebrate their annual holiday potluck party, which had an impressive turnout of nearly 200 attendees! Scholars and their siblings participated in the engaging activities led by 30 dedicated Upper School mentors, including a creative ornament-making session, festive cookie-decorating workshop, lively dreidel competition, construction of candy-filled gingerbread houses and more! The delicious food brought by the attendees, coupled with some holiday karaoke, made for a festive and fun-filled evening for everyone. The event was a wonderful reflection of the community spirit and joy that make Hudson Scholars such a special program.
