| | About Hackley 5-Day Boarding Every boarding community has its stories. The quintessential story of the Hackley boarding program is about a group of over thirty people from different cultural, ethnic, national and religious backgrounds who arrive on the Hilltop, form friendships and become like a family--a family which supports differences and believes in the uniqueness of each member’s voice.
At the heart of Hackley’s Five-Day Boarding community is the Hackley school motto, “United, We Help One Another.” There are many manifestations of our commitment to one another. Weekly social activities bring residential faculty and boarders together. Faculty who live on campus also offer our boarders academic support.
Our distinctive Harry Potter-style House system gives boarders an additional structure of support and friendly competition during the week. The four co-educational Houses, comprised of students from each Upper School grade level, are named after Hackley’s original architects (House Gildersleeve, House Randal, House Nichols and House Wheelwright). Houses compete for prizes at the end of each marking period, and the winners often get to celebrate with a takeout meal or a trip off campus for dessert or a movie!
Hackley Five-Day Boarding is dedicated to the principle of learning through relationships. Friendships help students and faculty make the most of all that life on the Hilltop has to offer. The Hackley hive is abuzz after dark on boarding, and we invite you to join us!
