In nominating her to continue in the role, one of her colleagues wrote, “During Adrianne’s tenure as Allstrom Chair, the job has taken on dimensions that no one before imagined it could. In part because of the creation of Community Studies, the school’s acceptance to Round Square, a great increase in foreign visitors and foreign travel programs, and in part because of Adrianne’s remarkable creativity and organizational skills, the tasks that the chair holder now handles are many and complex. Adrianne does them all with total sensitivity to diversity, deep knowledge of foreign news and cultural history, and vision for our school as a leader in Global Education.” Another commented, “Adrianne tirelessly identifies opportunities for growth in international awareness and skills for her peers and has done an excellent job in formalizing processes for our multiple international trips. In addition, she is actively involved in Hackley's initiatives with international partners, supporting the school's membership and activities in WLSA and Round Square, to name a few.” Another summed it up well, writing “I can’t think of anyone better in this position than Adrianne Pierce. I nominate her for a renewed term, as she seems to be the most passionate faculty member about global education and to be the most familiar with a plethora of resources to promote the incorporation of world-wide perspectives, human rights ideas, environmental issues, etc. into academic curriculum. She seems to tirelessly research and generously provide her discoveries of organizations, conferences, retreats, webinars, articles to faculty on a continual basis. It would be hard for anyone to match her enthusiasm or dedication to the issues of global-education and human rights activism.” Please join us in congratulating Adrianne!
