For Juniors and Seniors

The College Counseling process begins formally with juniors as they take a once-a-cycle course entitled “Intro to College.”

This course covers a wide range of topics related to the college search process, including an interest inventory assessment, how to choose colleges, how to research colleges, standardized testing, how colleges choose students, essay writing, teacher recommendations and interviews.  We host an evening program to kick off the college search process right after we return from winter break, and families meet with their assigned counselor in January or February. After that initial meeting, students meet with their counselor every few weeks, but counselors are available for any ad hoc meetings as well.

Counselors help students create and refine their college list, assess student’s interviewing skills, support their application process, review and edit essays, and advocate on behalf of their students to college admissions officers across the country and the world.
