Smores & Stars: Hackley Sixth Grade Camp Out

Hackley inaugurated its new campsite in October, as 20 sixth graders and four faculty chaperones went "into the wild" of Hackley's own backyard.

This was the first ever campout at the new Hackley campsite deep in the Dave Allison trails, built last spring by Angus Parton, Jamie Leonard, and Jordan Schwartz, members of the Class of 2017, as their Senior Project.

Twenty 6th graders camped overnight, along with faculty Dianne Fahy, Kerry Clingen, Doug Sawyer, and Glenn Hasslinger as chaperones. The night involved camp set up/overview, wilderness safety, gym night, Leave No Trace and environmental discussions, and then the fun stuff like night hikes and, of course, SMORES!!!!!
