Did You See the Play?

If you didn't...you REALLY missed it!  Here's a tiny snippet of the fun Willie Teacher and his troupe presented in their staging of A Comedy of Errors -- Kioni Marshall '18 rapping Shakespeare!  Read on for more about the production.
"Welcome to the Comedy of Errors...Hackley Style! I can't think of a better wy to start my 5th season at Hackley than by blending two of my favorite things, chocolate and peanut butter...NO! Shakespeare and Hip Hop."  Director Willie Teacher introduced this seasons play with his characteristic blend of humor and savvy insight.  He writes, "Shakespeare and Hip Hop both invented words to fit their needs. If the word to fit your rhyme scheme or explain the unknown didn't exist, they would make it up. [...] Disenfranchised folk in the South Bronx or in Statford-upon-Avon had to find a creative outlet to tell their story. Once that was done, they were then validated and supported by eachother; the world would catch on later."  Pointing to the "characters" created in each medium, he notes, "From Caliban to Flava Flav to Niki Minaj to Lady MacBeth, [these characters] have leapt off [the page] and occupy a space in our lives in one way or another."
