Exploring Math Applications

Hackley Upper School Math teachers traveled to Durham, North Carolina for the recent Teaching Contemporary Mathematics conference at the North Carolina School of Science and Math. The conference explored a wide range of topics using math to engage with subjects as varied as science and social activism. Read on for details.
Math Department Chair Diana Kaplan reports that the team looks forward to finding new ways to talk about math and problem-solving in the classroom with some of the tools they took away from the conference.  Here are a few of the titles of the talks they attended:
