Hack Gives Back -- So Much!

"Hack Gives Back" is a new student-driven initiative to engage members of the Hackley community in relief for communities beyond the Hilltop.  Students wrote proposals for their projects in the fall, and then ran highly successful collection drives from January 22 to February 2.  Many thanks to all who contributed! Read on to learn about the projects.
The Hackley Dux Femina Club collected a box of feminine products to give to The Samaritan House in White Plains.

Another box full of packaged food was collected by seniors Nicole Heyward and Ellie Grueskin, who run the soup kitchen at St. Bartholomew’s once a month in White Plains. Some of the food will be used in the lunches that they prepare and the rest will be given to people to prepare in their homes when the soup kitchen is closed.

Sophomore Madeline Zuckerman collected dance related items for Traveling Tutus, an organization that helps children from underprivileged backgrounds participate in dance programs. They will receive fourteen leotards, twenty two pairs of tights and a mix of other items.

By far the most successful collection was the Hackley Children's Book Collection to Benefit Literacy Program at the Coachman Family Center in White Plains run by freshman Jessie Bard. Over 500 books were collected for that program.

April will introduce another Hack Gives Back drive to collect video games and gaming equipment, soccer equipment and clothing.

Once again, a big thank you to all!
