Girls Basketball Finishes with .500 Record

The Hackley Girls Basketball Team ended up with a final record of 12-12, which included a trip back to the state tournament and a win in the first round before losing to this year’s state champion, Dalton.

The year started off rocky with a record of 3-5 and once we moved into the Johnson Center we reeled off 5 straight wins. Our team was led by leading scorer Jordan Wade ’19 who averaged 13.5 points per game to go along with 75% shooting from the free throw line. Point guard, Ismene Germanakos ‘19, followed with 7.8 ppg.

Ijeoma Nwokorie ’18 and Isabelle Thomas ’19 held down the boards for us all season averaging 5 and 6.5 rebounds per game respectively. Belle Thomas also had a put back off a rebound as time expired to give us a huge NYSAIS win vs CSH.
LiliAnna Khosrowshahi ’18 was often called upon to shut down our oppositions toughest threat and ended the season taking the most charges!!! Sofia Graziano ’20 contributed 5.5 ppg and also had a career high 24 points in one game. Dylan Wade ’20 and Jenny Canoni ’20 each made steady contributions both offensively and defensively throughout the season, as did Zoe Naughton ‘20, Tatiana Monteleone ’20 and Chrissy Barrett ‘18. Lastly, Shira Meer ’21 rounded out our team averaging 6.3 ppg to go along with 4 rebounds per game.

For recognition of her season-long performance, Dylan Wade received 2nd Team All-Conference Honors. We wish our Seniors, Ijeoma, Chrissy and LiliaAnna, the best of luck and we will miss them. With nine girls returning we are hoping to “Win the Last Game” next season.
