Recent "happenings" in the Makerspace!

Check out some of the ways this new space supports terrific student work across our curriculum and across our divisions. Even our Greek and Chinese classes have found their way over! Read on.

Second Grade
Hackley second graders came to the Makerspace this week. Starting with designs created in class and using paper plates, cardboard, pipe cleaners, and a variety of other crafts supplies and tools, 2D was very focused on creating their African masks. Under the guidance and assistance of Ms. Misitano and Mrs. Murray-Jones, this project is part of the students' current unit of study on Africa!

Upper School Greek
Our Upper School Greek students built their own soil sifter in preparation for their archaeology unit. Using wood, wire mesh, and both power and hand tools, students experienced first hand what it is like to build the tools you will use for future work. Apparently the Ancient Greeks couldn't get to Home Depot and purchase them!

Chinese 6
Using 3D design software and our 3D printers, students of our Chinese 6 class designed and created name templates in Chinese and printed them for display.

Aquabots
Although featured earlier in the year, we wanted to again share that our middle school 5-6 & 7-8 Aquabots teams continue to press forward with design and construction of their underwater robots. Their competition is just around the corner during the month of May! Go Hack!
