Hackley Runners Compete at Prestigious Penn Relays

Six Hackley athletes, including three freshman, delivered season best performances at the prestigious Penn Relays on Thursday, April 26th in Philadelphia. Read on.
To qualify, athletes must run a 1600m relay below 4 minutes 30 seconds or a 400m relay under 54.0 seconds. The event showcases the talents of the top high school track athletes from every state in the U.S plus the Caribbean, with the most competitive sprinters always coming from Jamaica. Four Hackley athletes (Jasmyn Phillips ‘21, Kiara Abbey ‘21, Shira Meer ’21 and Laura Walter McNeill ‘18) competed in the 4x100m Relay, and Shira, Jasmyn, Zoe Naughton ’19 and Princess Ohia-Enyia ’20 also competed in the 4x400m Relay. Both relay teams delivered season best times in their events with the 1600m relay running 4.29.4 to finish 12th in the Prep School division and the 400m relay running 53.27 to finish 427th out of 650 teams in the small school division.
