Athletes of the Week, 4/30

Athletes of the Week (AOW) for the week of April 30th are Jonah Gorevic ’21, Leah Holmes ’20, Neil Singh ’20 and Alex Kalapoutis ’21.
Jonah Gorevic ’21 – Track & Field: Jonah Gorevic broke the 3200M record at Hackley by running a 9:44.50 on Saturday, May 5th at the Joe Wynne Somers Lions Club Invitational. Jonah’s time beats Matt Pulle’s 9:52 from 1991. In addition to breaking this 27 year old record, Jonah’s time currently ranks him as the fastest freshman in New York State in this event.

Leah Holmes ’20 – Girls Lacrosse: Leah scored her 100th goal last week at Spring Sting to make her one of very few Hackley players to reach this mark as sophomore. Leah has been an impact player all spring and one of the main offensive threats for the team this year.

Neil Singh ’20 – Boys Golf: Neil was back to back medalist (39) against Trinity (which was the deciding point in a 5-4 win) and (38) against Hamden Hall. Neil has been in the starting line up the entire season and has been a vital piece to the golf teams success this year.

Alex Kalapoutis ’21 - Baseball: Alex had a great day on the mound on Monday pitching six innings giving up only four hits and no earned runs. His effort also included seven strikeouts on the day to earn his second varsity win as a freshman. Coach Frolo touted it as the best pitching performance thus far this season.
