Hackley Girls Varsity Lacrosse

The Varsity Girls Lacrosse team had another successful season. Returning an amazing 16 players and adding 6 rookies—the team worked hard all season long. Read on.
Finishing with an overall record of 16-2, the girls clinched their seventh consecutive Ivy League Championship and with an undefeated league record of 11-0, made it six straight seasons going undefeated in the league. They also regained the NYSAIS Championship beating Rye Country Day 17-12 in the championship game.

In fact, our seniors have an incredible four-year record of 65-9, never losing an Ivy League game, winning four Ivy League titles and two NYSAIS championships. This team scored a total of 272 goals and allowed only 125 goals to be scored. These are all amazing statistics, but the heart and passion with which the girls played every game is what sets them apart. Not only did they amass two wins over Holy Child--avenging their loss in the 2017 championship, but they outlasted Poly Prep in a 14-12 win. The girls continued to challenge themselves, playing games against public school powerhouses North Shore and Bronxville. In the Bronxville game, the team fought back in the second half and nearly pulled off an incredible comeback—falling just short of a victory. Though these games tallied as losses on their record, it is clear that much of their ultimate success can be contributed to these challenges and to the experience they gained in these competitive games.

Two players hit statistical milestones this year—Leah Holmes scored her 100th Hackley career goal as just a sophomore, and senior LiliAnna Khosrowshahi tallied her 200th career goal. LiliAnna ended her Hackley career with an impressive 218 goals and 110 assists. Our eight amazing seniors leave an incredible legacy to HGVL—not only in their win percentage and championships, but in the hard work, passion and commitment that they modeled each and every day. We will certainly miss them all: Megan Chen, Lucia Yannuzzi, Carolyn Santangelo, Chrissy Barrett, and captains Ijeoma Nwokorie, Bridget Barsanti, Ellie Arnold and LiliAnna Khosrowshahi
