Chilean Independence Day Celebration

Fourth grade students launched Hispanic Heritage Month by celebrating Chile’s Independence Day on September 18th.

Mrs. Lopez shared the beauty of her country through videos on Chile featuring the Atacama Desert (driest in the world), huasos (Chilean cowboys), the Andes Mountains, the Patagonia, and Easter Island. The children then enjoyed dancing the Chilean national dance called cueca to some lovely Chilean music.
