  • Hackley School Hosts Free Football Clinic with Star Strong Safety Jamal Adams
  • Open to students in grades 5-9
  • Drafted sixth overall in the 2017 NFL draft, Jamal Adams played college football at Louisiana State University and is now a team captain with the New York Jets.
Open to participants in grades five through nine from both within and outside the current Hackley student community, the football clinic will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 5:30 – 7:30 PM under the lights on Hackley School’s Pickert Field (293 Benedict Avenue, Tarrytown NY). No equipment needed beyond athletic wear and cleats or sneakers.

Concurrent with the clinic, the Hackley Admissions office will offer a special session on private school admissions for interested parents. Why might families consider private or independent school? How do you apply? What’s the difference between “scholarships” and “need-based aid,” and will you qualify? How do families apply for financial assistance? Hackley offers $5.1 million in financial aid and 21% of students receive some kind of tuition support. This workshop, beginning at 6:00 PM in Hackley’s Johnson Center for Health and Wellness, guides families through the process of applying to independent day or boarding schools.

The event is hosted by the Hackley Varsity Football team and coaching staff, led by Varsity Coach Simon Berk.

The clinic is the first in a series of three community programs featuring accomplished professionals. The second will feature basketball legend Rebecca Lobo and the third, in the spring of 2019, will feature a performing artist.

Space is limited; to register, email Jason Edwards, Hackley Director of Athletics
at jedwards@hackleyschool.org.

Hackley School is a K-12 independent coeducational day school with five-day boarding in grades nine through twelve. Hackley’s mission is to challenge students to grow in character, scholarship, and accomplishment, to offer unreserved effort, and to learn from the varying perspectives and backgrounds in our community and the world.

Hackley’s football program places the highest emphasis on the safety of our student-athletes; a desire to improve standards led the school to found a new football league for schools sharing our interest in stronger player safeguards. As part of these efforts, Hackley equips players with VICIS ZERO1 helmets, considered by many to be the best, most protective helmet available
