Free Basketball Clinic with Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo

Hackley School invites New York metro girls basketball players in Grades 5 – 9 to a free instructional clinic featuring Rebecca Lobo, Monday, November 5, 5:30-7:30.

A member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, Rebecca Lobo is one of the most accomplished basketball players of all time. An All-American for both basketball and academics, Collegiate Player of the Year, and National Champion at the University of Connecticut, Lobo won an Olympic Gold Medal and was a star in the WNBA. She is currently a reporter and color analyst covering women's college basketball and WNBA games for ESPN.

Open to participants in grades five through nine from both within and outside the current Hackley student community, the basketball clinic will be held on Monday, November 5, 5:30 – 7:30 PM in the Johnson Center for Health and Wellness at Hackley School (293 Benedict Avenue, Tarrytown NY). No equipment needed beyond athletic wear and sneakers.

Concurrent with the clinic, the Hackley Admissions office will offer a special session on private school admissions for interested parents. Why might families consider private or independent school? How do you apply? What’s the difference between “scholarships” and “need-based aid,” and will you qualify? How do families apply for financial assistance? Hackley offers $5.1 million in financial aid and 21% of students receive some kind of tuition support. This workshop, beginning at 6:00 PM in Hackley’s Johnson Center for Health and Wellness, guides families through the process of applying to independent day or boarding schools.

The event is hosted by Hackley Girls’ Basketball Coach Margaret Scarcella, the Hackley Girls’ Basketball Coaching Staff, and Hackley Players.

The clinic is the second in a series of three community programs featuring accomplished professionals. The first featured football player Jamal Adams, and the third will feature a performing artist.

Space is limited; to register, email Jason Edwards, Hackley Director of Athletics
at jedwards@hackleyschool.org.
