Hackley Girls Varsity Soccer

After tough losses early in the season to Riverdale, Dalton and eventual NYSAIS champion Poly Prep, the team showed great poise to defeat all three teams in the second half of the season. HGVS finished the season with an overall record of 12-6-0 and received the #4 seed in 2018 NYSAIS tournament. Lead by senior captains Ismene Germanakos, Katherine Robertson, and Isabelle Thomas, HGVS scored a total of 42 goals while allowing their opponents to score just 20 goals. Scoring leaders were Sophie Thomas ’21 with 31 points followed by Welyn Waterhouse ’23 with 20 points and Julia Thomson ’20 with 16 points. The team has a solid core returning next year and expects to be in the mix for a championship in 2019.
