Hackley Girls Varsity Tennis

HGVT  emphasized playing with passion and determination, reflecting on their play after each match, using smart strategy to give themselves the best chance of competing on each point, and finished with an 8-5 record and lost a super close semi-final match (2-3) to the eventual Ivy League champions, Horace Mann.
Senior Fiona Boettner, at one singles, played solid tennis throughout the season. Second and third singles, played by Audrey Pizzolato ’21 and newcomer Samantha Rainero ’22 demonstrated some great play and lots of improvement since September. Senior Kit Greenberg and Sadie Nipon ’20 form quite a duo at first doubles, losing only one match together and earning 2nd Team All Ivy honors. In addition, Kit and Sadie made it to the finals of the NYSAIS doubles championship.

The veteran combo of Leah Holmes ’20 and Maggie Broaddus ’20 continued to dominate at their position, going undefeated at 2nd doubles this season and capturing 1st Team All Ivy for the third consecutive year. The remainder of the team, which includes seniors

Natalie Sukhman and Samantha Rosenstein, along with juniors Alex Gray and Leah McKirgan, and freshman Maya Miller were all critical members of the team. Whether filling in the lineup when needed, supporting their fellow teammates, or bringing a positive vibe to the courts, they all made important contributions. Captains Kit and Fiona, along with the other seniors, Natalia and Samantha, did a fantastic job as leaders of the team and in creating an incredible team spirit!
