HackleyConnect networking series event

The HAA hosted HackleyConnect: Real Estate, a networking event for alumni and Hackley parents, on November 8 at Hackley. The event included a panel of alumni representing the field of real estate and attendees included real estate professionals and those who were interested in learning more about the real estate market. Moderated by Trustee and HAA Board Member, Eric Gyasi ’01, panelists and attendees engaged in discussions on mixed use development, Indian Point, tax reform, live, play work developments in New Rochelle and Yonkers, village squares in suburban neighborhoods as well as residential and commercial trends.

Hackley Connect Real Estate Panelist bios:

Andrew Weisz ’07

Andrew is Vice President of Leasing & Acquisitions at RPW Group, a family-owned real estate development company owning over 3 million square feet of Class A office space in Westchester County and Manhattan. Andrew is responsible for directing the firm’s real estate investment and leasing activities. In this role, he is actively involved in sourcing new acquisition opportunities and leading the execution of business plans. Prior to joining RPW in 2017, he was an Associate Director at Newmark Knight Frank, where he marketed, repositioned and leased office properties in New York City.

During his time at Hackley, Andrew was a member of the Dial staff, an Ambassador, Secretary Treasurer of the Community Council and a lifer. He played varsity tennis and squash, which he continued to play in college. Andrew received his Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College, where he majored in International Studies and was a 4 time national squash champion.

Peter Riolo ‘03
Peter is an Associate Real Estate Broker at Brown Harris Stevens Residential and is a third-generation New York real estate professional. His real estate sales philosophy is a combination of old world values of client service, coupled with state of the art contemporary technology. He brings experience, passion, and problem solving strategies to every transaction, skillfully managing every facet of the deal. In 2016, Peter was named 2016 Deal of The Year Recipient from REBNY, was the Top 5% Broker Agency Wide 2013 and 2017, and in September of this year was named Flagship Office Broker Of The Month. Before his career in real estate, he worked in equity brokerage on the floor of the NYSE.

Peter was a lifer at Hackley and both his father, Arthur Riolo ’69, and brother, Stephen Riolo ’01, are Hackley graduates. While on the Hilltop, he played varsity football, receiving the James Reilly Award in 2002, and lacrosse, receiving the Bruce Hislop Lacrosse Award in 2003. Peter graduated from Trinity College with a major in International Relations and a minor in Italian Studies. He is currently a mentor in Hackley’s Networking Initiative.

Nick Zarnin ‘00
Nick is a Corporate Managing Director at Savills Studley. He has been with the firm since 2010 and has focused his career on representing tenants with their commercial real estate needs. He is involved in every aspect of a real estate transaction from needs analysis and site selection to lease negotiations and move-in. Nick prides himself in only representing tenants and regularly “thinking out the box” to devise creative real estate strategies aligned with his clients’ short and long-term business goals. His clients primarily include financial institutions, law firms, professional service firms, technology companies, and not-for-profits. Nick is regularly one of the top producing brokers in his firm.

A Hackley lifer, Nick was on the varsity football, winter track, and lacrosse teams and won the Bruce Hislop Lacrosse award in 2000. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island and is currently a mentor in Hackley’s Networking Initiative.

Jennie Nolon Blanchard '99
Jennie is a Senior Staff Attorney and Urban Program Specialist for the Land Use Law Center at Pace Law School, where she is also an Adjunct Professor teaching the evolution of land use and urban planning in America. Jennie’s work focuses on the growth of urban centers, helping cities address obstacles to revitalization and sustainability. She also manages student research; writes on legal issues pertaining to land use and sustainable development; lectures at conferences and industry events; and trains local officials, environmentalists, planners, developers, and attorneys on land use law and consensus-building techniques.

At Hackley, Jennie was on the varsity field hockey, softball and varsity swim teams, a Hackley Ambassador, and played the flute. She was also a lifer. Jennie graduated cum laude from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2003. In 2008, she received her Master of Environmental Management degree from Yale University, with an advanced concentration in Urban Ecology and Environmental Design. She also received a JD cum laude from Pace University School of Law. Jennie has also achieved designation by the United States Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP). Jennie has been a Class Rep since 1999 and a mentor in Hackley’s Networking Initiative since 2013. Currently she serves on the Alumni Networking Committee, and is a member of Hackley Connect, Hackley’s online networking platform.
