Hackley Debaters Excel at Scarsdale Invitational

Congratulations to seniors Philip Bonanno and Tucker Wilke who won the Scarsdale Invitational, a Public Forum tournament attracting 80 other participants, including some of the best debaters in the northeast.
The US Public Forum team competed on November 9th, 10th, and 11th at the Scarsdale Invitational. In the novice division, freshmen Sydney DeFilippo, Michael Lee, Sid Shah, and Zach Yusaf, along with sophomores Zach Couzens, Alex Goldman, Arav Misra, and Ishaan Ratliff, gave impassioned and polished performances while learning more about the activity and improving each round. In the varsity division, sophomores Ben Aybar and Ben Kirsch came one victory shy of advancing to elimination rounds and seniors Philip Bonanno and Tucker Wilke won the tournament, beating out 80 other partnerships after 11 rounds of competition! Additionally, Philip and Tucker’s performance qualified them for the culminating national championship tournament in April! Overall, it was a great performance for Hackley PF as it now prepares for upcoming tournaments.
