Stargazing on the Hilltop - May 31

Join us TONIGHT for Stargazing on the Hilltop with our night sky guide Hackley Science Teacher Bill McLay from 8:00 - 10:00 PM on the North Turf Field. RSVP to alumni@hackleyschool.org. All members of the Hackley community are invited to attend.
Bring your families and a telescope (if you have one), and make memories!

Event details:
  • Flashlights
Please bring flashlights as it will be dark on the field. There will be a table at the South Turf Field with sheets of red cellophane and rubber bands to wrap your flashlights. This will allow you to see, but not send white light into your eyes. Any white light can result in taking longer for eyes to adjust to the darkness.
  • SkySafari app (available for $2.99 at the App Store)
Bill recommends this app and will be using it during the event. You don’t need the expensive pro version. This app allows you to turn your screen red.
  • Telescopes
If you are bringing your own telescope, please arrive at 7:30 PM at the North Turf Field for set up.
  • Directions
Enter campus from Benedict Avenue and follow the campus drive to the Quad, and then continue down the hill to circle toward the back of campus. Upon arriving at the fork just below the new Johnson Center for Health and Wellness (you can’t miss it!), stay to the right to head up Alumni Drive. Continue along this roadway past Pickert Field (on right) and large parking lot (on left) and find parking near the turf fields or softball and baseball fields. Stargazing will take place on farther of the two turf fields.
This event is dedicated to my dad, Randy McNaughton, faculty member, astronomer, Honorary Alum and chief who started the stargazing tradition on the Hilltop. Click here if you would like to make a gift to The Annual Fund in his memory.

If you have any questions on the evening of the event, please call or text Margie McNaughton Ford '85 at 914.374.0581.
