Building Bridges...with Spaghetti

Hackley Advanced Physics students conducted a study on the theory and design of truss, arch, and suspension bridges, seeking to design the most efficient bridge using only spaghetti, fishing line, and hot glue.
Their magnificent structures, which had to bridge a span of 24 inches and be at least 4 inches wide and 4 inches wide, took different approaches to the problem, which required them to achieve the most efficient strength to weight ratio. Efficiency=(failure load(N)) / (weight of bridge(N)).

The current Hackley "efficiency record" of 65.825 is held by Bryce Chu '18.  Will a new record make Advanced Physics history?

Members of Hackley's third grade came out to witness some of the tests -- a great opportunity for cross-divisional learning and sharing.
