US Debate Starts the Year Strong
The Hackley Upper School Public Forum team started their fall season with a strong showing at their first tournament this past weekend.
Hackley sent five teams to the Byram Hills Invitational in Armonk, NY. Sophomore Daniel Zhang competed in his first tournament with his partner, junior Zack Couzens. Freshman Zara Yusaf had a strong record with her partner, junior Alex Goldman. Juniors Arav Misra and Ishaan Ratliff had a strong showing, going 3-2 in the preliminary rounds.
Hackley took home both first and second place from the Byram Hills Invitational! In first place, sophomore Zach Yusaf and junior Ben Kirsch, and in second place were junior Ben Aybar and sophomore Sid Shah.It was a great start to the season for US Public Forum!
Next up: The US Debate Program will participate in the Yale Invitational in New Haven on September 13th-15th,. This is a very strong tournament, and we are proud to be sending two JV and three Varsity Public Forum teams and two Parliamentary teams.
