Mystery Nouns in Second Grade

Each student was asked to select an object from home, place it in a brown paper bag and describe their “mystery noun” by writing adjectives to describe their object. The next day in class, each student had an opportunity to guess every “mystery noun.” Some of the creative nouns the students brought in were a roll of toilet paper, a phone charger, and a pair of sunglasses. This enjoyable activity helped solidify their understanding of common nouns.
