Fall 2019 Football

The 2019 Hackley Football Team earned an impressive 7-2 record and won the Metropolitan Independent Football Bowl Championship for the second year in a row.

The team was one of three independent schools to be recognized as a NYS top team.  While the 30-player roster contained only five seniors, the seniors earned a career record of 26-6 while at Hackley, making Hackley one of the winningest football programs in Westchester County during their tenure.

The Hornets’ success centered around a multi-faceted rushing attack and a swarming defense.  Enzi Teacher ’20 paced the Hornets with over 1100 yards from scrimmage and 18 touchdowns in nine games.  Conor McMahon ’20, Evan Lasster ‘21, and Josh Williams ’21 rounded out the attack giving opposing team fits as they tried to locate the ball carrier.  The offensive line pushed opponents around all season, anchored by captains Will Kneisley ‘21 and Jordan Johnson ‘21, as well as Tyler O’Brien ‘20, Chappy Jones ‘21, Alex Kirchgaessner ‘21, and Liam Murphy ‘20.  Defensively, Johnson and Kneisley were all over the field terrorizing opponents.  The defense forced fumbles, interceptions, blocked punts, and scored four defensive touchdowns.

The 2019 campaign will be remembered for three shutout victories, another Bowl Championship, and multiple victories over Rye Country Day and Poly Prep.  This team embodied the ideal Hackley student-athlete by embracing the values of hard work, teamwork, and the ongoing pursuit of excellence.  The future is very bright as the team returns 25 players for 2020.

Until then, the Hackley Football Family will celebrate the contributions of the exceptional seniors, Conor McMahon, Enzi Teacher, Tyler O’Brien, Sean Ford, and Liam Murphy.
