Athletes of the Week, 1/27

Athletes of the Week for January 27th are Kiara Abbey ’21 (Track and Field), Jake Abraham ’21 (Wrestling), James DiStefano ’20 (Fencing – Epee), and Nicky Wind ’22 (Fencing – Saber).

Kiki came in second place in 300m at Molloy Stanner Games last Saturday. At this very large meet she ran a time of 43.81 which shattered her personal best by two seconds. The time placed her second in a field of over 50 runners.

Jake went 6-1 last week with five pins and nine takedowns, including wins over Dalton, Rye, Hastings, Pawling, White Plains, and Port Chester. Jake also placed 5th at the weekend Edgemont Tournament in a 20 man bracket.

James took gold at the ISFL individual Tournament this past weekend. In the championship match James defeated the number one ranked fencer in the league, 13-12.

Nicky finished first in the individual ISFL Saber championship over the weekend. His current record of 17-1 places him at the top of this very competitive group of fencers.
