K-12 Gratitude Letters from Hackley Students

In the midst of COVID-19 and Distance Learning, Hackley’s Service Team organized a campaign for students to create letters expressing their heartfelt thanks to essential workers and emergency responders in our local community. The response from all divisions was heartwarming.

In Lower School…
Hackley alumnus Vinay Bijoor ‘18 volunteers with the organization Heroes for Heroes, which organizes deliveries of Subway sandwiches (stores owned by local small business owners), and delivers them to local healthcare workers. Vinay, currently in the middle of final exams, has agreed to deliver the 63 LS letters of gratitude with the next delivery.

Meanwhile, Middle Schoolers…
...showed their sincere appreciation to the medical staff at Open Door Family Medical Center who provide healthcare services to residents in our local communities. Around 70 letters were digitally written and designed by the students to express their gratitude!

And the Upper School...
...wrote 35 letters of gratitude that were sent to the medical staff at Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. Dinner for 30 from Lefteris was also delivered to the night crew on Saturday, May 9. Coordinator of Volunteer Services Kathleen Ramos at Phelps responded “It is people like you, willing to go above and beyond at this critical time, who sustain our community. Your actions are so valued and special.”
