Hackley Upper School Public Forum Debate Team Wins!

From November 6 to 8, 2020, 4 Hackley teams competed in the AppleValley Minneapple Debate Tournament against 170 of the top Public Forum Debate teams in the country.  Hackley Senior Ben Kirsch and Junior Zach Yusaf went 4-2 in Preliminary Rounds but then went on a run winning triples, doubles, octafinals, quarterfinals, semifinals, and then won the finals to become Tournament Champions.

Ben and Zach won their second Gold Bid as a team and are now fully qualified to compete at the Prestigious Tournament of Champions at the University of Kentucky next April.

Senior Ben Aybar and Junior Sid Shah went 4-2 in Preliminary Rounds and advanced to triples.  Junior Michael Lee and Sophomore Zara Yusaf also went 4-2 in Preliminary Rounds and advanced to doubles and won a Silver Bid to the Tournament of Champions.  Juniors Harrison Hayward & Daniel Cai won two rounds in the varsity division against some of the top teams in the country. 

The Hackley Public Forum Debate Team is off to a great start this year having won two consecutive National Circuit Tournaments!
