Hackley Pool Test Results 12/11/20

Dear Hackley Families and Students,

I am writing to let you know that Hackley received the results of the COVID-19 surveillance test conducted on Friday, December 11. All of the 1052 samples tested on Friday were found to be negative.

As we approach the final week of in-person learning, I want to first start by saying “thank you.” Thank you to our students for their patience and flexibility, for learning quickly how to navigate the school, and for following an entirely new set of policies and procedures. Thank you to our faculty, staff, and administrators for taking on new supervisory roles, adapting every facet of your work, and doing so with kindness and empathy. Thank you to our families for your partnership as we worked our way through various challenges, systems, and simply the great unknown of operating the school. We should ALL feel a sense of accomplishment for what we did together. Congratulations and THANK YOU!

To ensure that we can all receive another week of positive news next weekend as we start break, I want to again ask for the community’s continued partnership. Please continue to adhere to the COVID-19 community pledge found in the divisional handbooks, and emphasize to all those in your circle the importance of several critical habits:
  • Wear masks
  • Maintain 6-feet of physical distancing wherever possible
  • Maintain good hand hygiene
  • Remain at home if you can’t pass the daily health screening
  • Follow state guidelines regarding indoor and outdoor gatherings (NYS contact tracing data shows that 70% of new cases originate from households and small gatherings.)
Our collective efforts have made this fall possible...let’s keep it up for another week.

The next test date will be Friday, December 18. Please only use the vials with GREEN CAPS. For the cold weather months, Lower School collection will continue in the Lower School and all other sample collection will happen in the Johnson Center. Please keep track of testing supplies; they are precious commodities. As always, if you have any questions, please contact us at COVIDResponse@hackleyschool.org.

Here’s to a great final week of school for 2020!

Forward together,
Michael C. Wirtz P ’29 ’31
