Class of 2021 Honors Diane Remenar with Rice Inspirational Teaching Award

The Class of 2021 awarded Diane Remenar with this year’s Anton and Lydia Rice Inspirational Teaching Award endowed by Tony ’56, Don ’57, Bill ’62 and John Rice ’64.

After a quarter of a century of service to Hackley, Diane is retiring in June.  She has been an outstanding and versatile teacher in the Middle and Upper School.  In her earliest years at Hackley, she taught Spanish and English as a Second Language courses, when the latter program existed within the Upper School.  For the last two decades, she has been a stellar Middle and Upper School Spanish teacher, teaching a wide range of classes and age levels.  She was always exceptionally prepared for her lessons, knew her students well as learners and people, and demonstrated her joy, passion and sense of humor each class day.  In recent years, Diane primarily taught AP Spanish Language.  Her teaching was recognized formally in 2016 with the Parent's Chair, one of the school's endowed chairs saluting classroom excellence.  In addition to her teaching, Diane has been an attentive, caring and firm academic advisor.  At one time, she was the Director of Boarding, and for several years she co-directed the Senior Projects program.
