Team Report

Hackley Girls' Varsity Tennis is off to an impressive start this season, going undefeated in their first seven matches! In Ivy League play, the team is 6 – 0, giving them the number one seed in the upcoming Ivy League Tournament. Each member of HGVT has been working incredibly hard since preseason to improve their game and make sure that they are prepared for the matches. Their hard work and smart play, combined with their overall tennis skills, has led them to success in every match. Each of our singles players – Sam Rainero ’22, Grace Rainero ’23, and Asahi Goods ’24 have been playing excellent tennis and are yet to lose a match. Watching these three compete and out-hustle and outsmart their opponents is quite something!

Our first doubles team of Maya Miller '22 and Remi Myers '24 play an aggressive and exciting style of doubles that has them undefeated as well. At second doubles 9th grader Isabella Barriera ’25 has been partnering with either Sami Rowbottom ’23 or fellow 9th grader Frances Clifford ’25. Second doubles, with their smart shot selection and strong communication, are also 7 – 0.

The team is looking forward to continuing to work hard and improve in order to prepare for the upcoming Ivy League Tournament! Each and every player on HGVT – starters and not starters – contribute to the success of team. Whether playing inspiring tennis, pushing one another in practice, or cheering each other on during matches, HGVT’s success this season is truly a team effort!
