This week's highlights feature five Athletes of the Week.
Athletes of the Week
Skylar Safriet ’22, Cross Country: Skylar, senior captain, had a monster race last Wednesday at the Ivy League Race. She was Hackley’s second-fastest runner of the day and placed sixth overall running a time of 18:42 on the historic Van Cortlandt Park 4k.
Asahi Goods ’24, Girls’ Tennis: Asahi has been dominating at 3rd singles so far this year. Her powerful groundstrokes, smart play, and overall impressive tennis has led her to an impressive 7 – 0 start this season!
Dan Paridis ’23, Boys Soccer: Danny scored three of the team’s five goals in their wins over league leaders Trinity and Fieldston last week. Dan had both goals in the 2-0 win over Trinity and had the equalizer that sent the Fieldston game into overtime – where the Hornets prevailed 3-2.
Harper Kelsey ’24, Field Hockey: Harper scored the game-winning goal in our hard-fought contest against league rival Fieldston on Saturday, 10/16/21, winning 1-0. This is Harper’s second goal of the season!
Avery Leighton ’23, Field Hockey: Avery had a total of 5 saves in our shut-out on Saturday vs. Fieldston. She came out to stop an open shot early in the game that set the defensive tone for the day. Avery took charge of the defensive with both her communication skills and aggressive play. This is Avery’s fourth shut-out of the season. Her goals-against average is 1.052. In eight games, Avery has only given up eight goals.
