A Conversation with Michael Makinde ‘03 about his film “The Talk 2/7

Join us virtually on Monday, February 7th at 7:00 p.m. EST for Varying Perspectives in Action: A Conversation with Michael Makinde ‘03. Michael will discuss the short film he produced with three close friends titled "The Talk," which depicts the relationship between a Black father and his son. The event begins with a viewing of "The Talk." Click HERE to RSVP - the Zoom link will be sent to those who register.

The film, designed to address the unique conversations Black parents have with their Black children, also sheds light on the importance of those intimate moments between caregivers and the children in their care.

“Varying Perspectives in Action” is a new speaker series designed to bring to campus – in person or virtually – individuals engaged in meaningful projects and conversations that help us to see the world through a new lens. Our speakers cover a broad range of topics and have diverse lived experiences. Most importantly, they are doing and creating in the world to help generate awareness and ignite ongoing dialogue. Many of our speakers are Hackley alumni, creating connections between Hackley students and those that came before them.

Michael's talk is part one of a two-part series. In March, we will welcome Gentry Torrell ‘11 back to campus to learn about her clinical research on U.S. Veterans living in Washington DC.
