PostAP Spanish: Language and Culture Service-Learning collaboration with Neighbors Link

This academic year three Upper School Spanish courses, Accelerated Spanish III, PostAP Spanish: Language and Culture Service-Learning, and Civic Engagement for Advanced Spanish Speakers, have been engaged in long-term Service-Learning projects with our community partner, Neighbors Link.

The courses have been collaborating with the non-profit to design, write and deliver presentations in Spanish to their Parent education group on themes like Social Media, TV, and Videogame consumption, all of with a focus on child-adolescent wellness and safety.

On Wednesday, February 2, the Post AP students completed the service component of their collaboration, delivering a Zoom presentation on Television consumption. The presentation included current trends, genres, themes, and strategies to ensure a healthy relationship with the small screen. The students spent an hour presenting their research, sharing resources, and engaging the attendees in meaningful dialogue. Stephanie Rosado, Neighbors Link’s Family Center Director shared that the clients found the presentation, “highly engaging, very informative and professionally done.” ¡Gracias y felicitaciones a nuestros líderes!
