Athletics Highlights #13

Four spring season Athletes of the Week are announced: Andrea “Andy” Hegarty '25 Softball, Elizabeth Rudge '23 Girls’ Lacrosse, Nikhil “Niky” Dhakad '22 Baseball, and David Koffler '22 Boys’ Lacrosse.

Andrea “Andy” Hegarty ’25 Softball: Andy has been a huge asset to the softball program. In her varsity debut, she had 13 strikeouts and went 2 for 3 with 7 RBI’s a home run and a triple. Andy has already made a name for herself as one of the top pitchers in the league and a dominant force offensively. In two league contests, Andy has 28 strikeouts.  

Elizabeth Rudge ’23 Girls Lacrosse: Elizabeth is a key player and leader on the defense for the girls' lacrosse team. She leads the team in forced turnovers and contributes greatly to possessing ground balls and draw possession. In five Ivy League contests, the defense has given up an average of 2.6 goals per game. Elizabeth’s vision of the game and strength against top offensive players is one of the main reasons for the early success of the Hornets. Elizabeth has also scored 6 goals and 3 assists this season.    

Nikhil “Niky” Dhakad ’22 Baseball: Niky had an exceptional game this week pitching 6 innings in a 7-1 win over Brooklyn power, Packer Collegiate. Niky had 8 strikeouts and gave up 1 run in 3 hits with just 2 walks. Niky has been the go-to pitcher and has started 4 of the 6 games Hackley has played this season. He is a major reason for the success of the baseball team.    

David Koffler ’22 Boys Lacrosse: David has been a stalwart for the boys lacrosse team this season.  Playing midfield and attack, David has been a leading goal scorer, a leader on offense and defense, and won important ground balls including 6 in the 7-6 win over Poly Prep. David has been instrumental to the team’s strong start in the Ivy League.
