Joey Nadol ‘22

Joey’s work focuses on improving the detection of exoplanets, which are planets orbiting stars beyond our own Solar System.

Why did you pursue this project?
I chose my project because I’d always been interested in space – even as a little kid I enjoyed stargazing and imagining what might be out there in our vast universe. When I was around 10, I heard of the Kepler mission and the vast impact it had on the search for exoplanets, and I followed it quite closely. I think my most-visited website as a 10-year-old was exoplanets.nasa.gov (closely followed by nfl.com and coolmathgames.com). So when the opportunity presented itself to join IRP and eventually find exoplanets, I jumped at the chance. It’s a dream come true to be able to do the work that I do, and I can’t wait to continue it in college.
