Eighth Grade Violists Demonstrate Achievement and Community Outreach

Two Hackley Middle School students, Isaac A. '26 and Mason L. '26, active members of Hackley’s Orchestra program, scored perfect scores at the New York State School Music Association Festival this Spring. And both are doing even more extraordinary work.

Isaac A. '26, an 8th grade violist, and singer will be working as a Student Ambassador working with a Music Therapist to deliver music to patients and their families at a local teaching hospital in Westchester County starting this June. Isaac has also founded a group called, Why We Sing, consisting of Classical Professional Vocalists and will be hosting a Benefits Concert this summer in Hackensack, NJ, to help Ukrainian Refugees. Isaac will extend the group's work to include instrumentalists going forward to perform for different designations each year.

8th Grade Violist Mason L. '26 recently won Second Prize at the 2022 New York International Artists Viola Competition in the 11-13 year-old category. As a second-prize winner, he will have the opportunity to perform with other winners at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, next January.
