Athletes of the Week – Week of Sept. 12

Every week, we will highlight some exceptional Hackley Hornets who are helping to spur on their teams.

Varsity Field Hockey: Catie O’Rourke ’23
Catie scored four goals and seven assists in the first week of our season, including a hat trick and two assists in our 6-2 win against Fieldston. She is a dominant force on both offense and defense. Catie is a leader and is at the center of our Field Hockey team, which has started with a 3-0 record.

Girls’ Varsity Soccer: Gabriella Petriello ’26
Gabriella had a hat trick in the first game of the season against Horace Mann, and in three games this season, she has five goals and one assist.

Boys’ Varsity Cross Country: Asher Beck ’24
Asher won the Division 3 race at the 21st annual Somers Big Red Invitational on Sept. 10. His first-place finish helped Hackley capture third place as a team out of 16 full teams in their race. In addition, Asher's 16:52 time in the 5K was the fifth-fastest that day out of almost 500 runners in boys' varsity races. Furthermore, Asher displayed amazing sportsmanship as he cheered on the rest of his teammates, many of whom were running a 5K for the first time. Congratulations to Asher for winning the Somers Big Red Invitational!

Boys’ Varsity Soccer: JT Goswami ’23
Senior forward JT has been instrumental in the early success of the Hornets soccer team. In the 3-0 victory over Dalton, JT led the team with two goals. He's off to a great start!
