Boys' Varsity Soccer Team beats Horace Mann at Fall Sting

The Hackley Boys' Varsity Soccer Team took advantage of a beautiful night, an enthusiastic Sting crowd, and a major rivalry to nail down an exciting 3-1 victory last Friday night on Pickert Field.

Senior Steven Li opened the scoring for the Hornets midway through the first half with a volley from close range. Horace Mann equalized four minutes later, but junior Cliff Chapman broke the draw and put Hackley up for good. Senior Dan Paridis extended the lead with a goal just 10 seconds before the end of the half to provide a little cushion.

Hackley had many second-half opportunities to put the game away, but could not find the last bit of quality needed to slam the door. Despite that, the reliable and steady Hackley backline, led by senior captains Cole Joseph and Fritz Lauerwald, held strong to secure the 3-1 win.

Hackley remains undefeated in its first three league games.
