Athletes of the Week – Week of Oct. 24
Every week, the Athletics department highlights some exceptional Hackley Hornets who are helping to spur on their teams.
Boys’ Varsity Soccer: Dan Paridis ’23
Dan scored both goals in Hackley’s 2-0 win over Riverdale last Wednesday, and then went on to score two more goals in a 3-0 win over Trinity on Friday. The two victories have propelled the Hornets to first place in the league standing (9-3 record) with two games to play.
Boys’ Varsity Soccer: John Churchill ’23
John recorded two clean-sheets last week as the Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team defeated league rival Riverdale (2-0) and Trinity (3-0) to improve to 10-3 overall and 9-3 in the league.
Varsity Cross Country: Abigail Nager ’26
Abigail placed 12th overall at the George Calano-Collegiate School Invitational 2022 at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday, Oct. 21. Her time of 21:53 on the 5K course was the fastest of the day on the girls’ team. Congratulations to Abigail on a fantastic finish!
Varsity Cross Country: Travis Knaggs ’24
Travis placed an impressive 8th at the George Calano-Collegiate School Invitational 2022 at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday, Oct. 21. His time of 18:03 on the 5K course contributed to the boys’ overall win at the race. Congratulations to Travis on having another strong showing for the Hornets!
