Hackley Boys’ Soccer Tops UNIS in Tough NYSAIS Quarter-Final

No. 1 seed Hackley hosted No. 9 seed UNIS (United Nations International School) in the NYSAIS quarter-final on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The Hornets got two first-half goals from Dan Paridis ’23 to advance to the NYSAIS semi-finals on Friday, Nov. 4.

Dan tapped in a ball that bounced over the UNIS keeper with only 5:44 left in the first half. He added his second goal less than two minutes later on a perfect upper corner free kick from a wide angle 25 yards out.

The Hackley defense held tight despite a talented UNIS squad that had a dominant advantage in possession. Steven Li ’23, Jack Perlman ’25, Ber Bennett ’24, and Caleb Bae ’24 were sensational on the backline, holding off the UNIS attacks. Hackley keeper John Churchill ’23 recorded his eighth clean sheet of the season. It was a massive team effort, and one that should give the Hornets confidence moving forward.

Next up is league rival Riverdale at home on Friday, Nov. 4. Kick-off is at 2:30 p.m.
