Athletes of the Week – Week of Feb. 6

Every week, the Athletics department highlights some exceptional Hackley Hornets who are helping to spur on their teams.

Track and Field: Asher Beck '24
On Monday, Asher's performance in the two-mile resulted in an enormous leap in both his N.Y. state and national rankings. He ran one of the most dominant races of his life, with the next closest competitor finishing more than 30 seconds behind him. Asher's time of 9:26 in the two-mile qualified him for nationals, placed him 11th in N.Y. state, earned him a top 100 ranking nationally, and broke the Hackley Indoor 3200m record.

Swimming: Kate M. '27
In duel meet competition against Fieldston, Kate won the 200 and 500 freestyle. She was also a member of the first-place 200 Medley Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay. The girls' team ended the regular season with a 6-2 overall record and a 5-1 Ivy League Record.

Girls' Basketball: Ashley Currie '24
In two games this week Ashley averaged 20 points per game, including eight three-pointers. She also had seven rebounds and five steals. 

Wrestling: Liam Abraham '23
Liam won his second consecutive Ivy league title this past weekend. Overall, he has 28 wins and went 4-0 on the week with four pins.
