Hackley ROV Makes a Splash at the New England Robotics Regional

Hackley Engineers, or Aquabots, from the Upper School Minor Submersible ROV Engineering Team earned recognition for their impressive performance at the New England MATE competition held on Saturday, April 22.

The team of five students—Vihaan Dheer '23, Kiran Marfatia '23, Aiden McComiskey '23, Jaden Bayrooti '23, and Sam Nadol '24—secured second place overall in the advanced Ranger class, a remarkable achievement. They also won first place in the display category and were awarded a special judges' award for the most unique design. The group's modular design wowed the judges and impressed all at the competition.

The MATE competition encourages students from around the world to design and build underwater vehicles (ROVs) to complete missions based on real-world scenarios, thereby inspiring students to pursue careers in STEM fields related to marine and freshwater environments.

Congratulations to the Hackley Engineers for their outstanding performance and embodiment of creativity and innovation!
