Hackley Announces 13th Head of School

Charles Franklin has been named Hackley's new Head of School, beginning July 1. The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Mr. Franklin based on the recommendation of the search committee and the hundreds of survey responses and feedback received from members of the Hackley community, including faculty, staff, families, students, and alumni.

Mr. Franklin is currently finishing the academic year as Assistant Head of School at the Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland, where he successfully led academic programming, the faculty growth and evaluation program, hiring, and professional development. He grew up in Connecticut, studying at Amherst and receiving a Masters in Education at Johns Hopkins before taking on roles ranging from history teacher, dorm parent, and coach, to Dean of Students, Upper School Co-Head, and Director of Academics. Both his passion for education and compassion as a leader will have great impact at Hackley.

We look forward to welcoming Mr. Franklin and his family to the Hilltop this summer!
