Social and Emotional Support

Our licensed mental health clinicians partner closely with teachers, advisors, deans, parents and outside professionals to support the social-emotional health of our students. Their work includes: 

  • Individual and small group counseling.
  • Strategies and resources to promote positive mental health and academic success.
  • Social-emotional programming for advisory groups and community time.

    Learning Support in Every Division

    In the Lower School, our full-time literacy specialist works with students individually and in small groups to strengthen reading and language skills.

    Students in the Middle and Upper Schools have access to dedicated learning specialists who provide individualized support.

    In the Middle School, students receive: 

    • Instruction in study skills.
    • Support for executive functioning, time management and organization. 
    • Individual and small-group sessions to promote academic confidence. 

    In the Upper School, students receive:

    • Individualized support to strengthen executive functioning and self-awareness. 
    • Guidance in identifying academic strengths and developing effective learning strategies. 
    • Encouragement of self-advocacy, helping students become confident, independent learners — skills that serve them well beyond the Hilltop. 

    Accommodations

    Hackley is committed to ensuring equal access to the School’s programs for students with documented disabilities. Support Services oversees the process for applying for reasonable and appropriate accommodations in accordance with applicable law.
