Hackley School

Mr. Diaz’s fourth grade art classes took a trip to the Allen Center for the Creative Arts and Technology to view the drawings and paintings currently on display in the art gallery. The exhibition, “A Quarter Century of Faces on The Hilltop,” features portraits selected from Hackley AP Studio Art drawing portfolios over the last several decades.

Fourth Graders spend time exploring the artwork in the Allen Center Art Gallery's exhibition: “A Quarter Century of Faces on The Hilltop”.

The fourth graders learned about portraiture, drawing as a mark-making process and Hackley’s Upper School art program; had a lively discussion about the ideas behind some of the works in the show; and spent time sketching their favorite pieces.

Before climbing the hill back up to the Lower School, the group visited the Senior Studio on the fifth floor to meet some AP artists and watch them paint, draw and prepare for their next critique!

Seniors Kareena and Keira Parasnis speak with fourth graders about their artwork in the AP Art Studio.
