Hackley School

Hackley participated in World Hello Day in each division by filming Lower School, Middle School aRound the World Club and Upper School Cultural Connections Club students saying “hello” in English. Hackley is one of 270 Round Square schools around the world that was invited to say “hello” in their country’s official language as a way to bring students together digitally.

And in mid-December, students and chaperones from Round Square member school Tamagawa Academy in Tokyo, Japan will be visiting the Hilltop. To get all Hackley divisions excited about the visit, Layla Kesh-Heil ’27 proposed a primary/lower school years postcard exchange between Hackley and Tamagawa. Students in 1M heard from Round Square Representative Ms. Maddox about the organization and from Layla about her time in Japan studying at Tamagawa this past summer. First graders then wrote postcards to new Tamagawa friends. The postcards will be sent back to a corresponding grade level in Japan in December.

Layla Kesh-Heil ’27, who spent time in Japan studying at Tamagawa Academy this past summer, drums up excitement with first graders for the Tamagawa Academy visit in December by organizing a primary/lower school years postcard exchange.
