Hackley’s Art Department has been collaborating with art students at nearby schools to share the works on display in the Allen Center’s art gallery and in progress in our classrooms. In December, we welcomed a talented group of Masters School student artists and their teacher to the Hilltop for a morning tour of the Allen Center and a viewing of Hackley AP Studio Art on exhibit in the art gallery. Students also joined one of Ms. Bottalico’s classes in the new digital media lab to meet and exchange ideas with Hackley photography students; an interesting discussion about the role of AI in the creative arts ensued!
And in November, AP Studio Art students and their teacher from Sleepy Hollow High School toured the Allen Center and discussed the design process and origins with Pelli Clarke & Partners. The SHHS group then met the seniors from both sections of Hackley’s AP Drawing course and joined their scheduled bi-weekly critique. Everyone enjoyed a lively and thoughtful conversation about the ideas and work presented on the studio critique wall, with the SHHS students offering our Hackley seniors perceptive insights and advice.
