Hackley’s talented Art Studio Intensive juniors and AP Drawing seniors traveled to NYC for their annual Chelsea Gallery Crawl on Thursday, Dec. 4. After a quick breakfast at Chelsea Market on 16th St., the group made its way north along Tenth Avenue, stopping at numerous galleries to view exhibitions specifically selected to align with current senior portfolio directions.

Highlights of the tour included an exhibition of meticulous rapidograph drawings at Cavin-Morris Gallery, large woven portraits at ACA Galleries and hyper-realistic paintings of barns at Nancy Hoffman Gallery. Everyone then enjoyed lunch along Tenth Avenue before the bus ride back to the Hilltop.

The trip inspired the AP seniors to dig deeper into their concentration ideas and was a valuable introduction for the juniors of possible portfolio directions next year.
